Windy was the order of the day for this match with gusts reaching 45 mph, from the south;
very light turn-out for this time of year, but this was a make-up match as our April 5th match
was called because of a wind-chill of 31 degrees & again high winds, we cant seem to get a
break on the weather this spring. Those shooting 40x40s were Jim Fields (3) Woody Liddell (2)
John Blue (1) One of the highlights of the match was Woody shooting a 38x40 in UHS open sight,
great shooting Woody. Our state match is scheduled for June 5th, 6th & 7th, make that one if you can.
Also we shoot this week-end, May 3rd. Thanks to all who helped with the match.

The match was shot under partly cloudy skies with
winds gusting to 20-25 MPH from the south; believe it or not, the wind was not
much of a factor as our range faces to the north.
Anyone who hasnt shot the 500 is missing
a lot of fun; as you might imagine its a challenge to get a bullet on a target
that is over a quarter-mile away with a handgun (rams, 500 meters are Ό mile
plus 110 yards!!!!) We will host another 500 sometime in the early fall.
Besides the 39x40 in the scope class, another
highlight of this match, Woody Liddell nailed all 10 rams, OPEN SIGHT!!!! Good
shooting Woody. Woody shoots a peep-on-peep XP chambered for the reliable 6 BR
cartridge.
Some records of interest for this 500 match which had its origin back in the early-1980s: SCOPE HIGH SCORE, (tie) Scott Thompson, down a turkey 39x40 in Sept. 2008, Jim Fields down a damn chicken!! 39x40, March 2009. OPEN SIGHT is held by Woody Liddell, 32x40 in Sept. 2008 & in the Ultra-500 (thats ½ scale targets) Chris Dunlap, 23x40.
